About the Artist
Meet the Artist and CEO of Dark Powder ARTS. (Formally known as SoDrawn2UArts)
A North Carolina native Artist and Instructor specializing in Portrait Art and teaching new beginners how to do the same. She first became her journey as an Artist at childhood when she realized she had a knack for drawing faces in a 5th grade Art Class and the feedback from other students was very positive. That lead her on the path of excitement and creating art through the years getting better and having enough confidence to share this talent with others teaching other students. Later in life, she enrolled in Wake Technical College in Raleigh, NC in 2010 to study Graphic Design finding Design and Photography just as much as interesting as drawing. darkpowderarts.my.canva.site/paulette-pickard-photography but her first love is Charcoal, Pencil and Portraiture.

DarkPowderArts.com will no longer be found on the .com site and only found here on the mycanva.com extension site. Why the change? We believe the management of 'mycanva' is much easier and less time consuming to keep up and therefore keeps costs low which means not having to pass costs on to the customers. I am sure this is great news to hear! And don't forget the new product designs will be coming soon as announced prior to this 'news'.

News Date: August /26/2022 We are excited to announce the Self-Paced Portrait Drawing Course has been launched. (Powered by Thinkific). We are glad to be able to offer this to our customers as we know how busy life can be.

News Date: February 3, 2023, There have been some changes within Dark Powder Arts (DPA) this year. The Self-Paced Portrait Drawing Course is no longer on the platform; Thinkific.com. The fees and costs to run the platform forced me to set a higher price for the course. To save students money in these trying times with everything being so 'high', It will be directly distributed from DPA to students upon request and payment through PayPal. This will allow us to make the course more affordable to new students as we are sure this would be appreciated. An Announcement will be made forthcoming on the details.
Also keep a lookout for designed products by Dark Powder Arts coming soon and marketed through Etsy. With products such as fun clothing and home goods.
There is also a consideration that the personally designed artwork by 'yours truly' :) will be designed on products available to you for sale through Etsy. So, stay tuned and keep following us on facebook to stay in the know on the updates!

News Date: August 5, 2022: Dark Powder Arts (Online) The live online Group classes are now over, and August was cancelled to make room for the new online digital course launching this month! If you prefer live-online classes, DPA will schedule live Art Events through fb in place of the regular scheduled classes previously offered.
Students will enjoy a having the option to do a 'TAKE AT YOUR OWN PACE ' - Portrait Drawing class and still have the guided attention they need just like in a live class with Screen Share meeting scheduled upon request. Additionally for a short period, there will be a huge discount. Regular price is normally $109.99 but will be offered for $57.99 So be sure to click the Contact Link below so you will be notified of the classes big launch!!
News Date: June 14, 2022: Dark Powder Arts (Online) is up and running since the beginning of June. June, July and August 2022 are all Portrait Drawing Classes since the main nitch for Dark Powder Arts is about portraits and drawing in pencil and charcoal. Beginner Figure Drawing is still in the works and is planned to start in September 2022. Also coming is the class called 'The Struggle is Real!"-Learning how to draw hands and feet. And lets be honest; hands can be a 'Beast' to draw and a lot of Artist try to avoid them as much as possible. News Date:May 11, 2022 May is here, and most of the hurdles of getting going iwith classes are over. We are so excited to get started
News Date: May 16, 2022: Dark Powder Arts is looking at June 2022 to start classes now that other hurdles have cleared. But will have a pop up class here and there. You have to be on the mailing list to get wind of these one hour classes. (Just do this from the Contact page and you will be added) Currently, we are kicking off the summer with (2) months of Portrait Drawing for Beginners, so far. Plans are in the works to schedule Beginner Figure Drawing Class and Hands and Feet Class in August. But stay alert because it may come up as POP UP Class sooner. Also plans are in the works to add another instructor to the mix to be available for age groups below Age 12 in the future! News Date: 3/31/2022: 'A person has to remember that the road to Success is always under construction - Steve Harvey. This iis the quote of the day! Dark Powder Arts planned to begin classes the 1st of April, but due to business delays for set up; its like Murphys law. Researching, testing, and marketing. You name it! So due to these unfortunate delays, the next launch date will be after April 15th, 2022 for the start of classes, but we will be getting the word out to offer pre-sale of classes for customers to sign up ahead! News Date: 3/12/2022: Dark Powder Arts has spent a grueling 3mos. planning, designing and researching to get this venture off the ground to provide a service for beginner to advanced level Artist's who have never even considered taking an Art class, especially Portrait Art.
Portrait Art in pencil and charcoal is Dark Powder's 'Niche'. The Owner/Artist realized from teaching past students, that the fear of drawing portraits is 'real'. The fear of feeling like you can't do it, is real! And it was a huge step just for them to join a class and take the leap.
